PRE ACTION VALVE

In a fire valve system, a Pre-Action Valve is used in a pre-action sprinkler system, which is a type of fire suppression system designed to reduce the risk of accidental water discharge in sensitive areas like:

• Data centers
• Museums
• Libraries
• Archives
• Telecommunications facilities

A Pre-Action Valve adds a layer of safety and control to fire suppression systems in critical environments where unwanted water discharge could cause as much damage as the fire itself.

The WEFLO Model F5311 is a pneumatically actuated, double interlocked pre-action valve utilizing a deluge dry pipe valve and pneumatic pilot system.  The valve is controlled by pressure maintained in the pneumatic release system and supervisory pressure maintained in the sprinkler piping system.

The Pre-Action Valve controls water flow into the sprinkler piping. It prevents water from entering the pipes until two conditions are met:

1. Fire detection: A separate smoke or heat detection system must first sense a fire and send a signal to a control panel.
2. Sprinkler activation: After the valve is activated, individual sprinklers still need to open (from heat) to allow water to be released at the fire location.

Key Benefits:

• Prevents accidental discharge from pipe damage or malfunctioning sprinklers.
• Provides double interlock protection (in some systems), requiring both detection and sprinkler activation before water is released.
• Reduces potential water damage, especially important in high-value environments.

The WEFLO model F5311 double interlocked pre-action valve can also use electrical or manual operation in case of emergency.

Vertical or horizontal installation.

Rated working pressure is 300 psi.

Maximum air supply pressure is 30 psi.
